Hi Food System Friends!

I am working with wonderful colleagues Jamie Rahrig, Phil Warsaw, and Jude Barry to host an exciting upcoming webinar! We are sharing it out far and wide to food systems leaders, policy and funding decision makers, state agency leaders, and partners to attend.  The Time is Now! Targeted Local Food Systems Investments and Infrastructure: Producing Measurable Impacts for Farmers and Communities webinar will take place on October 8, 9 AM EST. Registration is now open.

It will highlight the implications of the findings from the National Food Hub Survey, Local Food Purchase Assistance Cooperative Agreement Program (National and Michigan), and 10 Cents a Meal for Michigan’s Kids and Farms. And will be of course uplift how MDE lead all these efforts for the LPFA Mi and 10 Cents specifically when those section are covered.

So great to hear from you, Lloyd! Our friends Kelsi from Soil and Soul Farm is staying at my house for a few days as I send this! Copper Harbor LOVE!

The apples here are also so abundant this year-- there have sure been some delicious forest walks lately. I, unfortunately, don't have a good recommendation right now, but I bet if you send a quick email to the Michigan Farm to School Listserv (mifarmtoschool@list.msu.edu ) you could crowd source some great suggestions!

(Hand crank with masher).  Can either of you recommend a reliable one?  There are so many on the market that it is hard to know where to start.
