10 Cents a Meal: Sign On Opportunity, Education Materials

Greetings friends,

Please share widely and also consider adding yourself or your organization or business asap to an important supporters list.

These are links to new 1) advocacy and 2) education resources regarding 10 Cents a Meal for School Kids & Farms, the state pilot program that provides matching funds to schools to purchase Michigan grown fruits, vegetable and dry beans. The state Legislature is currently considering whether to continue funding the pilot for next school year, with the potential eventually of expansion statewide.

Early bird registration opens for Macomb All About Food Conference

Happy Monday folks!

I wanted to forward this excellent opportunity to network and learn with other farm to school champions. There will be SIX school food and garden focused sessions this year, so lots of opportunities to support your programming and get more local food into your schools and early childhood programs!


The 2017 All About Food: From Farm to Fork Conference early bird registration is open on! The conference will feature an exciting line-up of keynote and breakout speakers, with topics for everyone engaged in the food system.

The event will be held at Macomb Community College University Center on Tuesday, June 6th from 8am – 4pm.

 The 2017 All About Food Conference has a lot to offer! Join us for a day of learning, networking and sharing about food. Here are a few highlights you can expect from the event:

  •  Keynote speaker panel on The Future of Farming
  • Pop-up vendor market with locally made food products, and plenty of time for shopping
  • Wide variety of engaging speaker sessions – see for session descriptions
  • Delicious locally sourced lunch

 Registration rates and deadlines are as follows (please note the deadlines below are correct. The website will be updated accordingly shortly):

  • $25 Early bird registration through April 30
  • $30 Regular registration through May 30
  • $25 Student registration rate through May 30
  • $35 Limited number of walk-ins on June 6
