CRFS & affiliates awarded four USDA grants

The Michigan State University Center for Regional Food Systems is proud to share that the center and its affiliates have recently been awarded nearly $2 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Agriculture and Food Research Initiative for four projects on regional food system development.

CRFS' Livestock Work Group was awarded a $500,000 grant to conduct research on Michigan's small and midsized livestock producers, strengthen their business networks, and develop a public-private work group model to increase their viability.  Three of CRFS' faculty affiliates have received similarly-sized grants for projects to address grass-fed beef production, the establishment of an incubator farm in the Upper Peninsula, and food hub development in Michigan and Missouri.

For more information on these projects, please see the press release on the CRFS website.
