Congratulations to the Michigan awardees of the 2021 Turnip the Beet Award! Through this program, the USDA Food and Nutrition Service awards sponsors that provide nutritious summer meals that look delicious and appeal to kids.

Of the 84 sponsors across the country recognized with this award for excellence in summer meals, seven are right here in Michigan! Four awardees are Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, Food Gatherers, Fenton Area Public Schools, and Monroe Family YMCA. Three award recipients – YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit, Freeland Community Schools, and Mattawan Consolidated Schools – also participate in the 10 Cents a Meal program.
