May 19, 2023 at the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center Since 2010, people across the state and country have gathered at the Michigan Good Food Summit to network, share, reflect, and learn about good food work happening in Michigan. Aligned with the goals and priorities of the Michigan Good Food Charter, the biennial Michigan Good Food Summit aims to advance good food in Michigan by amplifying the stories and connecting the efforts of communities across the state. About the 2023 Michigan Good Food Summit May 19, 2023 at the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center Following our virtual 2020 Michigan Good Food Summit, we are excited to host a hybrid event with in-person and virtual registration options.  This interactive agenda will bring together food systems advocates and practitioners to: Celebrate the publication of the 2022 Michigan Good Food Charter Highlight leaders working toward Michigan's good food future Connect with others to plan for action, collaboration, and next steps All registered participants will be given access to join the virtual platform, Connect Space, where they will find live streaming, recordings, virtual materials, discussion spaces, and more! MFIN Virtual Network Meeting today! The MI Good Food Charter's focus on farm to school & farm to institution

Join us for the first Virtual Network Meeting of 2023 for the Michigan Farm to Institution Network (MFIN)!

This meeting will focus on the 2022 Michigan Good Food Charter, elements related to farm to school and farm to institution in it, and how they inform and align with MFIN's direction in the years ahead.

Join us to share your policy priorities and what you'd like to learn more about to further your farm to school or farm to institution efforts.

Guest speakers are Lindsey Scalera, Community Food Systems Collaboration Specialist, and Jordan Lindsay, Grassroots Organizing Fellow, of the MSU Center for Regional Food Systems.

National Farm to School Network (NFSN) and Michigan State University Center for Regional Food Systems (MSU CRFS) are excited to offer an upcoming free webinar, "Farm to Early Care and Education Continues to Foster Bright Futures for Children and Communities: Findings and Recommendations From the 2021 National Farm to ECE Survey" on February 9th 2pm ET/11am PT. 

In 2021, NFSN and MSU CRFS surveyed early care and education providers across the country to better understand current initiatives, motivations and challenges in applying farm to ECE activities in early care and education settings. Learn more about the survey and how you can apply the findings and recommendations in your own work Registration is required. Documenting 10 Cents a Meal’s impact on kids, farms, and food programs

450k children served in 48 counties

Findings show 10 Cents is reaching more children than ever before in schools, districts, and centers across Michigan We are pleased to share evaluation findings from the 2020-2021 school year 10 Cents a Meal (10 Cents), which show that 10 Cents is reaching its goals, despite pandemic-related interruptions. The report provides key indicators, such as number of children served and how many farms participated. The report, Expanded Eligibility, Increased Impacts, showcases 10 Cents’ impact on Michigan kids, farms, and food service programs. It describes:  Who is engaged in the 10 Cents program  What foods are served through 10 Cents  How foods move through the 10 Cents supply chain  The impact of 10 Cents a Meal  Present and future needs to support local food purchasing    This resource can be used by any audience to better understand the 10 Cents program. For food program managers and current 10 Cents grantees, this resource can be helpful to learn about how 10 Cents is used by participants and its impact on their food programs. For advocates and policy makers, these findings illustrate the bigger picture through the potential impacts and reach of the program. Lastly, this report can be used by Michigan farmers and food businesses to learn more about selling to schools and other grantees through the identified market channels and top foods purchased and served. Webinars will be released February 2023.
