Dear farm and local food systems advocates:
As you may know, Kalamazoo Valley Community College is developing a Food Hub as part of the new Bronson Healthy Living Campus. The Food Hub aims to support the local food supply chain by aggregating produce from Southwest Michigan farms and distributing it to hospitals, schools, and universities in Kalamazoo County. As part of our planning process, we are conducting a survey of local farms to better understand their needs, interests, and crops that they could sell through the Hub. Would you please take the survey?
If you don't farm in Southwest Michigan, but know someone who does - would you please forward this on?
It is an online survey in two sections. The first section is critical for Food Hub planning and will take about 15 minutes. You will be asked to provide estimates of the percentage of your sales that go through different market channels, such as direct market/CSA, wholesale, and to restaurants, so please have your records available if you need them. The second section asks for your thoughts on other programs the Food Innovation Center could offer, and will take about 10 additional minutes if you choose to fill it out.
