"Amplifying Voices for Equity" 2018 Michigan Good Food Summit registration now open
Keystone statewide gathering to advance a thriving economy, equity, and sustainability through Michigan's food system will be October 22, 2018
East Lansing, Michigan – The Michigan Good Food Summit creates a space for all people interested in advancing a thriving economy, equity and sustainability through Michigan food systems to connect, learn and collaborate across sectors. Registration is now open for the fifth biennial Michigan Good Food Summit to be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 at the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center on Michigan State University's campus.
The theme of the 2018 Good Food Summit is "Amplifying Voices for Equity." This reflects a focus on programming that addresses equity issues throughout the food system, and especially equity issues affecting under-represented groups and communities. The day-long event will celebrate state and local successes, share tools and resources to catalyze progress towards a good food system in Michigan, and provide an opportunity to network with others from around the state and across the food system.
"The Michigan Good Food Summit is an inspiring and unique experience," says Lindsey Scalera, planning committee member for the 2016 and 2018 Summits and Sustainable Food Program Director at the Ecology Center. "It connects hundreds of people who share a common vision for Michigan's food system. Relationships established at this gathering continue to have an impact beyond just this one day as we collaborate to strengthen Michigan communities."
Highlights of the 2018 program include:
• Keynote address by Saru Jayaraman, President & Co-Founder of Restaurant Opportunities Centers United
• More than 15 interactive workshops, panel discussions and lightning rounds, including:
