Expanding Afterschool Meals in Michigan Expanding Afterschool Suppers in Michigan Tuesday, January 7, 2020 1:00 PM EST | | Afterschool Meals in Michigan Webinar When the school day ends, many Michigan children go home to empty cupboards. The CACFP Afterschool Meal Program can help fill this nutrition gap by providing federal funding to afterschool programs that operate in low-income areas to serve nutritious meals and snacks to children 18 and under after school, on weekends, and during school holidays. To learn more about serving free suppers and snacks afterschool in your community, please join the Center for Civil Justice (CCJ), the Michigan Department of Education, and the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan (FBEM) for an informational webinar detailing the basics of the Afterschool Meal Program, how to get the program started in your area, and best practices for operating the program. CCJ's Afterschool Meals Report, which details state participation in the Afterschool Meal Program, will be released alongside the webinar. | | | | |
