New tool for educating candidates about 10 Cents a Meal before August 4

Friends and Colleagues:

This year, every seat in the Michigan House of Representatives is up for election, and some races will be decided in the August 4 primary.

Groundwork Center has created an easy email tool for everyone to educate candidates about 10 Cents a Meal for Michigan's Kids & Farms, the state program that supports schools in purchasing locally grown fruits and vegetables.

  • Email your candidates before the August 4 primary to let them know ways we can invest in our future by supporting healthy kids and thriving farms.
  • If you meet your candidate in person, share this brief one-pager, which is downloadable when you click on the image. .

We know that policymakers and interested citizens alike love learning about 10 Cents a Meal, and the more people know about it, the more we can make investing in healthy, locally grown food for children in schools and early child care a part of Michigan's identity.

Please share this email broadly within your own networks and take a moment to let me know your efforts. We are trying to keep track.

Best,
Diane Conners

P.S. See the reactions we've witnessed from candidates and legislators when they receive information about 10 Cents a Meal -- and get the latest from the program's key legislative champion in a piece that I wrote here.
