8/16: Skills for Confident Farm to Institution Food Safety Conversations

Having a conversation about a supplier's on farm food safety practices can help a buyer feel confident that the produce they are purchasing has been grown and handled safely. Join MSU Extension and Partners for this one hour webinar:

Building skills for confident buyer-supplier conversations about farm to institution food safety

August 16, 2021 2:00PM - 3:00PM


This webinar will feature guest speakers from University of Michigan Dining and the Marquette Food Co-op who will discuss how they have built relationships with local farms rooted in two-way communications about food safety. A Michigan Produce Safety Technician will also speak about the technical assistance and resources that they provide to farms to address produce safety needs. Participants will gain skills for having informed and productive conversations about on farm food safety concerns and expectations for farm to institution buying relationships.


Who should attend: Individuals who purchase or want to begin purchasing local produce for early childhood education centers, schools, colleges and universities, hospitals, eldercare facilities and other institutional food service programs. Local farms, food hubs, and distributors interested in farm to institution marketing.
