The USDA Farm to School Grant is now open for applications. Grants can support planning for, developing, and implementing farm to school programs. Eligible applicants include schools, farmers, tribal and local governments, and other organizations. The deadline for applications is January 6, 2023.
The USDA will award $12 million in grants in three tracks: Turnkey, Implementation, and State Agency. To help prioritize racial equity in the review process, USDA will give bonus points to projects operated by and serving communities that are “underserved, marginalized, and adversely affected by persistent poverty and inequality.”
In 2022, three grantees in Michigan were awarded grants: Allen Neighborhood Center in Lansing, Health Department of Northwest Michigan (Northwest Michigan Community Health Agency) in Charlevoix, and Detroit Public Schools Community District.
Let’s bring more grants home to Michigan in 2023!
