We're excited to announce that the 2026 grant applications for Salad Bars to Schools are now open! Schools that participate in the National School Lunch Program and serve students from kindergarten through twelfth grade are eligible to apply. Grantees will receive salad bar equipment, online training through the Chef Ann Foundation's School Food Institute, technical assistance, and marketing resources to install and successfully implement a salad bar as part of their school meal service. Learn more about the Salad Bars to Schools program. Salad bars help students establish healthy eating habits by increasing access to fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and healthy proteins. They can also help schools meet environmental sustainability goals by decreasing packaging waste and supporting local farms by serving fresh local foods on the salad bar. Salad bars are a great entry point for schools wanting to incorporate more scratch cooking. Applications close on March 31. Salad Bars to Schools has funded over 6,400 salad bars since 2010. The 2026 grants are made possible through generous funding from our mission-aligned partner, Whole Kids, a pillar of the Whole Foods Market Foundation dedicated to improving children's health and wellness through nutrition. |
