One week to go for 10 Cents a Meal grant applications: Deadline 9 a.m., Monday, Aug. 13

Just one week remains until the 10 Cents a Meal grant application deadline closes at 9 a.m. Monday, August 13th. 

Help your schools apply for a 10 Cents grant!  new tip sheet that went out in the 10 Cents a Meal e-newsletter is available to help make the application process easy and successful. 

  • Are you signed up for the 10 Cents e-newsletter? Sign up at www.tencentsmichigan.org/join. 
  • Your schools can also find a set of helpful tools and resources at a re-organized tencentsmichigan.org, under the tab Tools for Schools
  • Here you will find a link to Grant Application Information including the grant application tips sheet, recent webinars, articles, and resources aimed at guiding your school through the grant application process.  
  • You'll also find a link to Build Your Farm to School Program with additional resources that can help schools be successful applicants and grantees by focusing on procuring, preparing, and promoting Michigan-grown fruits, vegetables, and legumes, and planning related educational activities.

10 Cents a Meal for School Kids & Farms is a state pilot program that provides schools with up to 10 cents per meal in match funding to purchase and serve Michigan-grown fruits, vegetables, and legumes. 10 Cents funding has increased from $375,000 to $575,000, allowing the program to serve schools located in five of Michigan's 10 Prosperity RegionsHere are the counties for each of the eligible prosperity regions:

Region 2: Antrim, Benzie, Charlevoix, Emmet, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Leelanau, Manistee, Missaukee, Wexford
Region 4: Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Kent, Lake, Mason, Mecosta, Montcalm, Muskegon, Newaygo, Oceana, Osceola, Ottawa 
Region 6: Genesee, Huron, Lapeer, Sanilac, Shiawassee, St. Clair, Tuscola
Region 8: Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Kalamazoo, St. Joseph, Van Buren
Region 9: Hillsdale, Jackson, Lenawee, Livingston, Monroe, Washtenaw

Eligible schools should look for an email from Diane Golzynski, Director, Office of Health and Nutrition Services, Michigan Department of Education.
