Invitation: In-person MASH Meeting (October 25) - Healthy School Meals for All

Hi Farm to School Colleagues,

Wanting to share out this information as it does impact school districts across the state. Over the last two years, Michigan (via the State Budget), has ensured that all students participating in the National School Lunch Program & School Breakfast Program in K-12 schools have been receiving no-cost meals at school. There is work to make this permanent with two bills (one in the State House and one in the State Senate) to ensure Healthy School Meals for All is permanent in Michigan!

If you or others you know are interested in supporting this effort, please share this info!

There will be an in-person MASH (Michigan Alliance to Stop Hunger) meeting on Friday 10/25 in East Lansing that is open to anyone, you don't need to be involved with MASH. See details below, and one portion of that meeting will be on mobilizing action for Healthy School Meals for All

There is still an opportunity to move forward with these bills this fall to make Healthy School Meals for All permanent, we'd appreciate you sharing out the details for this meeting through your networks!!

Best,
Seema

Subject: Invitation: RSVP for In-person MASH Meeting > October 25

Hello MASH members,

We are excited to reconvene the MASH group again after our time apart during our summer break.

Please see the flyer below (and attached) for details on the upcoming in-person MASH meeting, held in East Lansing on Friday, October 25 from 10am – 2pm at the MSUFCU Headquarters Building 2. Our first ever in-person MASH meeting was held in March and had an excellent turnout, so we have booked a larger space to accommodate a larger group – so share the invite far and wide!

Tentative Agenda:

10:00AM - 10:30AM – Welcome & Introductions

10:30AM - 12:00PM – Healthy School Meals for All (HSMFA): Call-to-Action in Michigan & National Updates [panel & discussion]

12:00 - 12:30PM – Networking Lunch

12:30PM - 2:00PM – Food As Medicine (FAM): Updates in Michigan & Nationally [presentation & discussion]

We hope that many of you will be able to join us for this opportunity to connect with one another on current state and federal anti-hunger advocacy opportunities, information sharing, and networking! To confirm your attendance for the meeting à complete the RSVP form by Friday, October 18. Once you RSVP, a calendar invite will be sent out that will include the specific details on location.
